Dr. Maria Luz Martinez
PhD, LCSW
Dr. Maria Luz Martinez is a clinical psychologist and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She supervises the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health School Threat Assessment Response Team (START).
START provides threat assessment, intervention, and risk management for students of all ages at risk for targeted school violence. Dr. Martinez supervises and coordinates program activity in partnership with educational and law enforcement agencies.
Dr. Nicolas Beliz
Psy.D.
Licensed clinical psychologist with a specialty in crisis assessment and intervention. LPS designated in Los Angeles County and a focus on assessing and managing individuals on a pathway toward targeted violence.
Lead trainer on de-escalation, targeted school violence, suicide assessment and prevention, and trainer of local/federal law enforcement agencies as well as school districts and mental health partners.
